Derek Hood

When you have had the kind of career that Derek Hood has had, it is a simple decision that you would be named as a member of the Arkansas Basketball Hall of Fame and be part of a championship basketball team. All of this has happened since he first started to play basketball back in 1999. It was then that he went and played for the Charlotte Hornets for a season. This happening even though he was undrafted in the NBA draft. While he only played for two games for the team, the impact that he made on the court would help to land him with a wide range of other teams. One of these teams he would go on and play with and lead them to an NBA D-League title. This was one of the crowning achievements that he was really proud of. While his career has not had the accolades that other players have had, when you ask him about his career, he will say that he is very happy with his accomplishments.

In 2005 he received what he considers to be his crowning achievement when he was placed into the Arkansas Basketball Hall of Fame. This all goes back to his time at the University of Arkansas and the accomplishments that he had. He was in his time playing for the team the leading scorer and had on average the highest number of rebounds. These achievements are what helped to propel him into the Hall of Fame and to this day he is still looked at as one of the best players to play for the University of Arkansas. Few players have or ever will match the level of excellence that Derek H has reached and for this reason, he will go down as one of the all-time greats.
