Basketball Free Agents

 

 

In the basketball world there are some players that stay with the same team and become staple players. They become part of the culture in the city that they play for and it becomes very difficult for them to leave the area that they are in. Derek H is an NBA basketball player that became an unrestricted free agent.. He is a native of Kansas City, and he has played for several teams down through the years.

 

Different Teams

 

Derek Hood has but able to travel around as a free agent from the Charlotte Hornets to the Philadelphia 76ers. He would move from the 76ers to the Phoenix Suns. He would also become a free agent for the Dallas Mavericks as well. This range of different teams from 1999 to 2004 gave Derek Hood the ability to see different parts of the United States from the eyes of a professional basketball player.

 

A lot of teams are held together by what people reference as star players, but there are many more like Derek Hood that are free agents that can roam around. They get the benefit of playing with different teams throughout their career, and this gives them a better chance to possibly win a championship if the team that they are on is not as successful.

 

Length of Career

 

Derek Hood provide five years of service to the NBA, and the 6-8 basketball player that was a small forward at the University of Arkansas would create a career that would allow him to get inducted into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Honor.

 

Derek Hood would played the position of small forward and power forward during his time in the NBA. He would also play with the Quad City Thunder, Kansas City Knights (ABA) and the Yakima Sun Kings (CBA).
